Kick Off Your Doctorate – In-person Retreat

Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin are pursuing the goal of improving the conditions of young researchers in the doctoral phase within the framework of the Berlin University Alliance.

Target group

The retreat is aimed at doctoral students of all disciplines who are in the first six months of their doctorate.

Description

It is a long way from the decision to do a doctorate to the handing over of the doctoral certificate. The exchange and networking with like-minded people is very valuable for the start of a PhD. The focus of this kick-off event is to help early career researchers get started and to introduce them to contact persons at the four institutions in addition to helpful information on the content. Accompanied by trainers, a selection of important tools will be tested in small exercises and opportunities will be shown to deepen these across institutions. Short presentations, group coaching sessions, joint active lunch breaks and a networking evening with the international group will round off the event.

Venue

For the first time, the retreat will take place in presence. In order to create a space in the sense of a retreat in which participants can focus on their (upcoming) doctoral project and engage in exchange with other doctoral researchers, the Hotel & Spa Sommerfeld has been reserved.

Participation requirements & costs

Only doctoral students who are working on their doctorate at a member university of the Berlin University Alliance (Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin) can participate. Participation is free of charge.
